Hi Team

Wanted to provide a quick update that the Walk for Hope Fundraising campaign will officially close today, 31st March 2025. Thank you to more than 365 donors for contributing more than $132,300 so far. That’s 88% of the target $150k fundraising target and a huge contribution toward closing the funding gap left by US foreign aid suspension. 💪

1 hour after my arrival though, a mega earthquake struck central Myanmar, and I found myself back in Yangon within the next 18 hours and staying to coordinate relief efforts- purchasing of food, medical supplies and transport to affected areas (🙏 please reach out if you’d like to donate or know of doctors who would like to fly in to volunteer).

More than 40 Mae Tao Clinic staff and volunteers from partner organisations joined me to walk the last 10km, including Nay Chi, whom I first stayed with 5 years ago in Mae Sot. Among these people, 3 were actually born in Mae Tao Clinic, 1 had worked there for 20+ years and there were also 2 fellow Singaporeans!

After clocking a total of 505km over 12.5 days (did a post on why this was ‘just the right amount of time’), I was received last Friday at the clinic to a huge reception, lots of flowers and met with Dr Cynthia Maung (founder of Mae Tao Clinic and medical doctor herself!). She had this to say to all our donors:
